A new version of our traditional New Hope to Hope course, with a midpoint start/finish so you can return to your car mid-ride for re-supply. This is a reversed version of last month's "New Hope to New Hope" To mitigate the difficulties of winter road conditions, this course mostly traverses primary roads with wide shoulders. Nevertheless, riders should be prepared for extreme low temperatures and the possibility of ice, snow and extra debris on the roadways.
Starting from the large parking lot at the Pohatcong Shopping Center in Phillipsburg near the intersection of US22 and I-78, we follow the Delaware River down through Riegelsville, Milford, Frenchtown, Stockton, Lambertville, and at last we find New Hope. This marks the southern extent of the course. We then retrace our path back to your parked car (for replenishment without needing to enter a convenience store). Consider stocking your car with food, water protected from freezing, and possibly a thermos of a hot beverage. Extra hand warmers, dry gloves and clothes are also good to have in your car.
In the second half of the brevet we head north up the Rt 519 corridor, over the Harmony ridge, on to Hope. Shortly past Hope we reverse direction (don't wan't to get too far beyond Hope) and return through Belvidere to Stewartsville and the finish.
