Ride Description

This revised version of the YARRR-CCW starts at the SRT Trailhead in Port Providence and avoids the use of any gravel rail trail or other routing that may be unmaintained in winter.  As with the infamous "Yet Another River" route, you'll visit three rivers, traveling from the Schuylkill, to the Lehigh at the Forks of the Delaware. Along the way there are numerous food and drink options, and points of interest.

The  ride begins with climbing away from the Schuylkill river on "Level Road" till the terrain moderates through the heart of Bucks and Montgomery counties. Soon thereafter you will find yourself on familiar randoneuring roads approaching the info controle along the prettiest road in PA, Upper Tinicum Church Rd that follows a facinating creek up to the namesake church.

Upper Tinicum Church

Decending from the Church, the course begins to turn North West along the Delaware river for an easy riverside spin -- at least till the climbing resumes as the route crosses South Mountain to the National Canal Museum control on the Lehigh River, where there will be a special treat.

National Canal MuseumThen  over South Mountain again to head Southwest.  The route is generally flat through Hellertown where there are several second-lunch options, including the Lost Tavern. Upon reaching Coopersburg, you'll return to climbing mode through several bumpy areas before reaching the penultimate control Wawa in downtown Pottstown, and the Schuylkill River again.

Here the course turns South East, following the Schuylkill on mildly rolling terrain to the restaurants and bars in downtown Phoenixville and the finish control at Fitzwater Station.

There are several steep, extended climbs.  A triple or 39x27 is highly recommended.
