Ride Description

Hawk's NestStarting out at the Park and Ride Lot in Delaware Water Gap we head north up the Allegheny Front.  Instead of the familiar path through Canadensis and Promised Land, we will make our climb past the more scenic Bushkill Falls route and control at the 402 Cafe.  From there, it's the long descent along the scenic Lackawaxen River to the historic Roebling Aqueduct.  A short jaunt down Rt 97, which is a scenic and generally flat river road.  We depart the river at Barryville and climb the mountain to a controle in Eldred (pronounced El Dread). After summiting, it's on to Port Jervis through the many amazing overlooks at Hawks Nest.

At Port Jervis, we begin our return leg down along the Delaware River.  The Hainesville General Store controle is fast becoming a favorite.  You'll want to fuel up to for the climb up Old Mine Rd.  Millbrook Village offeres water and bathrooms.  From there is a straight shot on the NJ side of the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area to the finish in Delaware Water Gap.

There are several steep, extended climbs.  A triple or 39x27 is highly recommended.
